Wayside has a comfortable lounge/dining area and a well stocked bar, with slate flooring and underfloor heating, and for the winter months we have a wood burning stove in the lounge. The dining area seats twelve as does the bar area. We can cater for small private functions and meetings. Ideal for family get togethers.
The bar area has exposed stonework, an oak bar counter which has been reclaimed from an old schoolhouse. We have also re-instated a red brick wall between the lounge and bar area, which was an original feature. Another unusual feature of the bar area is a red brick walkway, made out of reclaimed bricks which were originally used for flooring in the barn. The original byres have been carefully re-instated in oak by one of our talented neighbours, and if you know how hard oak is you will be able to appreciate the effort that has gone into them, to create a cosy eating and drinking area. We have recently acquired two Springbank whisky barrels which Steven’s brother Kevin has converted into glass top tables to go in our Whisky Barn. We have got plenty of Whiskies to try and buy so if you enjoy a good single malt this is the place to be, we also have a well stocked bar and reasonably priced bottles of wine.
Outside Wayside offers ample private parking space at the end of our large driveway, washing and drying facilities for boots and clothing and storage sheds for bikes, canoes etc. A wash pad is available to clean dirty bikes. The courtyard has a seating area where you can relax, have a drink, and take in the lovely fresh air, it is a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine watching the sunset over Black Combe, in Autumn the sun turns the hill into a beautiful shade of bronze, an ideal photo opportunity.
